The 2026 James Dyson Design Award is now open for entries.
The 2026 James Dyson Design Award is now open for entries in 28 countries and regions worldwide, inviting current and graduating students in design and engineering-related fields to solve real-world problems in daily life or global issues through innovative inventions.As an international competition designed for young engineering and design talents worldwide, the award has provided nearly £1 million in prize money and an international platform for more than 400 student inventions since its inception.This competition has been accepting submissions in Taiwan for 13 years, continuing to provide funding and exposure opportunities for outstanding works.
Past winners have received extensive media exposure and international attention, further propelling their inventions towards commercialization and market application. Entries shortlisted in the Taiwan region will advance to the global finals, with the winner receiving a £5,000 prize. Students are strongly encouraged to participate and give their creative ideas the opportunity to reach an international stage!

Competition Process
All entries will first be judged by an external judging panel from each region and a Dyson engineer, selecting 3 shortlisted entries to advance to the global finals. These shortlisted entries will compete with other regional finalists for a place in the top 20 worldwide. Finally, founder James Dyson will personally select the global champion and sustainability award winner from the top 20.

Competition Awards
The global champion and sustainability award winner, selected by James Dyson, will receive a £30,000 prize. Regional champions will each receive a £5,000 prize.
