The shortlist for the "2026 Golden Pin Design Award" was recently announced, and the Department of Product and Media Design at Fo Guang University stood out with a total of 8 shortlisted entries. The categories spanned fashion design, social design, craft design, cultural design, product design, and digital interactive design, showcasing the students' diverse and solid interdisciplinary creative abilities.

This year, the Department of Industrial Media at National Folk University adopted "AI as the Law, Design as the Essence" as the core theme of its graduation exhibition. The exhibition emphasizes that in an era of rapid development in AI and digital tools, design is not merely the application of technology, but should return to the essence of problems, reflect societal needs, and propose sincere and valuable solutions. The shortlisted works also highlight the department's long-standing teaching characteristics: a blend of technological rationality, the warmth of handcraft, and humanistic concern.

This year's Golden Pin Design Award attracted approximately 9,000 students from 55 universities and 110 departments across Taiwan, making the competition fierce. The Folklore University's Department of Industrial Media's shortlisted entries covered a wide range of topics, from culturally integrated craft installations and AI-sensing industrial equipment to unmanned surface vessel systems addressing marine environmental issues, showcasing the students' creative depth and integration capabilities across different design dimensions.

Dr. Liao Chih-chieh, Department Head, stated that this achievement proves that in the AI ​​era, Folklore University's Department of Industrial Media not only guides students to master new technologies but also consistently upholds the warmth of handcraftsmanship and the spirit of art, cultivating design talents with both interdisciplinary vision and practical skills.

Dr. Chang Chih-sheng, the supervising professor, stated that the students' journey from initial confusion to confidently articulating their design perspectives was filled with refinement and practice. This shortlisting is not only an affirmation of the quality of their work but also the best proof of their professional resilience.

The shortlisted works will be officially exhibited at the "2026 New Generation Design Exhibition" held from May 22 to May 25, 2026 at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 2.
